When you live in Ikast-Brande Municipality, you have to sort your household waste and dispose in different containers.
Separate dustbin or common waste container
How to sort household waste?
If you live in a house, terrace house or apartment with separate dustbin, there is a sticker attached to the inside of the lid. The sticker gives a brief explanation to waste separation in Ikast-Brande Municipality.
The dustbin has two compartments:
- Organic waste goes in green bags in the small compartment
- Other waste goes in grey bags in the big compartment
The dustbin is only for household waste. Recyclable waste (cardboard, paper, glass, cans and hard plastic), garden waste, batteries, furniture etc. is to be disposed of at the recycling centres.
Collection frequency
The dustbins are collected every two weeks.
Please note
- Always close the lid - otherwise the dustbin will not be collected
- Place the dustbin by the road with the handle facing the road
- Please contact waste and recycling for bulky waste collection dates
Green bags
The refuse collectors brings green bags to your address once a year. If you run out, please contact waste and recycling.
How to sort household waste?
If you live in a housing association with shared waste compartments, you can contact your landlord if you have questions.
Household waste is to be sorted in two bags:

- Other waste goes in grey bags
